BIS Compulsory Registration Scheme For Amplifiers

Amplifiers, essential for audio enhancement, must meet safety and quality standards. In India, the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) implements the Compulsory Registration Scheme (CRS) for electronic products, including amplifiers. This guide provides insights into BIS CRS registration for amplifiers, emphasising its importance for manufacturers and importers. BIS Registration for Amplifiers: The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) issues the Compulsory Registration Certificate (CRS) for electronic products, such as Amplifiers with built-in Amplifiers. This certification ensures compliance with quality standards and safety guidelines, safeguarding consumers from substandard or unsafe products. BIS certification fosters consumer trust, fair trade practices, and contributes to overall standardisation in the Indian market.

Procedure of BIS CRS Registration for Amplifiers:

Identification of IS Standard: Determine the appropriate quality standards for the product before applying for CRS registration.
Documentation and Filing: Gather all necessary documents, including product details, test reports, manufacturing unit information, and a copy of the manufacturer's ISO 9001 certification.
Verification and Inspection: The registration process involves verification and inspection by BIS authorities.
Issuance of BIS Certificate: Upon successful verification, BIS issues the CRS certificate.

Fee for CRS Registration of Amplifiers:

Lab Test: ₹25,000
Application Fee: ₹43,000
Professional Fee: ₹10,000
Validity of CRS Registration: 2 years
Renewal Fee: Same as the application fee, with an additional professional fee for renewal of ₹7,500.

Note: The mentioned fees are exclusive of GST. Foreign Manufacturers and Non-MSME entities are required to pay an additional fee of ₹10,000 for their BIS CRS application.

Benefits of BIS CRS Registration:

Increase Brand Value and Customer Confidence: BIS CRS registration enhances brand value and customer confidence by signifying quality and safety.
Reduce Risk of Product Recalls and Penalties: Registration minimises the risk of product recalls and associated penalties.
Access to Government Tenders and Contracts: BIS CRS registration is often a prerequisite for participating in government tenders and contracts.
