BIS CRS Registration for Bluetooth Speakers

Bluetooth speakers have gained widespread popularity due to their wireless convenience and superior audio quality. With the increasing demand for these devices, it becomes crucial to ensure they meet essential quality and safety standards. The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) in India has implemented the Compulsory Registration Scheme (CRS) to regulate and certify products like Bluetooth speakers. This government program aims to ensure the quality and safety of products sold in India, protecting consumers from counterfeit or unsafe products. The CRS promotes fair competition by holding all Bluetooth speakers to the same standards. BIS CRS Registration for Bluetooth Speakers: The BIS has set standards for Bluetooth speakers, including sound quality, battery life, and safety. Products must undergo testing by accredited laboratories to ensure compliance. Once registered and passing required tests, a Bluetooth speaker receives a BIS certification mark, indicating adherence to CRS requirements and safety for use in India.

Procedure of BIS CRS Registration for Bluetooth Speakers:

Identification of IS Standard: Determine relevant quality standards for the product. Documentation and Filing: Gather necessary documents, including product details, test reports, manufacturing unit information, and a copy of the manufacturer's ISO 9001 certification. Verification and Inspection: The registration process involves verification and inspection by BIS authorities. Issuance of BIS Certificate: Upon successful verification, BIS issues the CRS certificate.

Fee for CRS Registration of Bluetooth Speakers:

Lab Test: ₹25,000
Application Fee: ₹43,000
Professional Fee: ₹10,000
Validity of CRS Registration: 2 years
Renewal Fee: Same as the application fee, with an additional professional fee for renewal of ₹7,500.

Note: The mentioned fees are exclusive of GST. Foreign Manufacturers and Non-MSME entities need to pay an additional fee of ₹10,000 for their BIS CRS application.

Benefits of BIS CRS Registration:

Increase Brand Value and Customer Confidence: BIS CRS registration signifies quality and safety, enhancing brand value and customer confidence. Reduce Risk of Product Recalls and Penalties: Registration minimises the risk of product recalls and associated penalties. Access to Government Tenders and Contracts: BIS CRS registration is often a prerequisite for participating in government tenders and contracts.
