FMCS for Kitchen Appliances | Overview

The Foreign Manufacturers Certification Scheme (FMCS) is a licence granted to Foreign Manufacturers, allowing them to expand their business within India while complying with the Bureau Of Indian Standards. It ensures the quality, safety, and reliability of Kitchen Appliances, offering manufacturers the opportunity to use the ISI Mark on their products.

Eligibility Criteria of BIS FMCS for Kitchen Appliances:

The Kitchen Appliance manufacturer must have a factory located outside India.
Products must undergo testing for quality, safety, and efficiency at In-Built and NABL Certified labs.
Manufacturers must pay required fees (application fee, inspection fee, licence fee, advance minimum marking fee, performance bank guarantee, etc.).
Acceptance of all terms and conditions set by BIS is mandatory.
Foreign manufacturers must nominate an Authorised Indian Representative (AIR).

Issue Raised (if any): Authorities notify of incomplete or incorrect information. If no issues, application is considered, and an application number is allotted.
Nomination of AIR: Designate an Authorised Indian Representative (AIR) residing in India with knowledge of government institutions.
