BIS, or Bureau of Indian Standards, regulates the quality of products listed under its scheme. For electronic and IT products, BIS CRS (Compulsory Registration Scheme) certification is mandatory as per the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology. LED/LCD TV manufacturers must obtain BIS CRS certification to ensure the quality of their products. BIS CRS Certification: The BIS Compulsory Registration Scheme (CRS) is introduced by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) to regulate and enhance the quality of electronic products in India. Over 70 types of electronic products, including LED/LCD TVs, fall under BIS registration, requiring compulsory registration for manufacturers or importers.
Renewal & Validity of BIS CRS Certification:
The BIS CRS registration is valid for 2 years, and certificate holders must timely renew to avoid non-compliance. The renewal application fee is ₹1,000, with an annual registration fee of ₹2,000 (with a 2-year validity). Additionally, there are government processing fees and product testing fees.

Application Fee: ₹43,000
Professional Fee: ₹10,000
Validity of CRS Registration: 2 years
Renewal Fee: Same as the application fee, additional professional fee for renewal is ₹7,500.
Note: The mentioned fees exclude GST. Foreign Manufacturers and Non-MSME entities need to pay an additional fee of ₹10,000 for their BIS CRS application.
