BIS CRS Registration for Lithium-ion-batteries:

Lithium-ion-batteries have gained significant popularity for their wireless convenience and superior audio quality. With the increasing demand for these devices, it is essential to ensure they meet crucial quality and safety standards. The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) has introduced the Compulsory Registration Scheme (CRS) to regulate and certify products like Lithium-ion-batteries in the Indian market. The CRS, a government initiative, aims to ensure the quality and safety of products sold in India. Under this scheme, all Lithium-ion-batteries must be registered with the BIS, meeting specific quality and safety standards. This protects consumers from counterfeit or unsafe products and promotes fair competition. The BIS has established standards for Lithium-ion-batteries, covering sound quality, battery life, and safety. These batteries undergo testing by accredited laboratories to ensure compliance. Upon successful registration and passing all required tests, the product receives a BIS certification mark, signifying adherence to CRS requirements and safety for use in India.

BIS Registration for Lithium-ion-batteries:

The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) issues a Compulsory Registration Certificate (CRS) for electronic products, including Lithium-ion-batteries. This certification ensures products meet necessary quality standards and adhere to safety guidelines. The BIS CRS certification protects customers from low-quality or unsafe products by regulating the quality of electronic items. It establishes a framework for manufacturers to comply with required standards, ensuring the reliability, performance, and safety of Lithium-ion-batteries. BIS certification enhances consumer trust, promotes fair trade practices, and contributes to overall quality and standardisation in the Indian market.

Procedure of BIS CRS Registration for Lithium-ion-batteries:

Identification of IS Standard: Determine the appropriate quality standards for the product before applying for CRS registration. Documentation and Filing: Provide necessary details and documents, including test reports from BIS certified testing labs. Verification and Inspection: After submitting the application along with fees and test reports, authorities thoroughly inspect and verify documents and premises (if required). Issuance of BIS Certificate: The BIS CRS registration is issued within 20-25 days upon completing all formalities.

Fee for CRS Registration of Lithium-ion-batteries:

Lab Test: ₹25,000
Application Fee: ₹43,000
Professional Fee: ₹10,000
Validity of CRS Registration: 2 years
Renewal Fee: Same as the application fee, additional professional fee for renewal is ₹7,500.

Note: The aforementioned fees are exclusive of GST. Foreign Manufacturers and Non-MSME entities are required to pay an additional fee of ₹10,000 for their BIS CRS application.

Benefits of BIS CRS Registration for Lithium-ion-batteries:

Increase Brand Value and Customer Confidence: BIS CRS registration signifies quality and safety, boosting brand value and customer confidence.
Reduce Risk of Recalls and Penalties: Registration minimizes the risk of product recalls and penalties, ensuring compliance with regulations.
