Role of the Pollution Board:
The Pollution Control Board is tasked with registering Importers, Brand Owners, Producers, and now Plastic Waste Processors. It ensures compliance through examination, periodic audits, and compositional analysis of mixed municipal waste. The board publishes non-compliance lists, conducts inspections, and may charge fees for processing registrations.

Biodegradable plastics are the plastics that are degradable through biological processes under ambient environmental conditions (terrestrial or aquatic) without leaving any visible or distinguishable microplastics or other toxic residues that have adverse environmental impacts, as per the BIS (Bureau of Indian Standards) that has been certified by the CPCB (Central Pollution Control Board).

Every Manufacturer, Producer, Brand Owner and Recyclers of plastic has to register themselves from SPCB or PCC of the concerned Union Territory.
