Plastic Waste Processors refer to entities involved in recycling, converting plastic waste to energy, transforming it into oil (waste to oil), and industrial composting. They play a crucial role in addressing plastic waste-related challenges and promoting sustainable practices.
Role of the Pollution Board:
The Pollution Control Board is tasked with registering Importers, Brand Owners, Producers, and now Plastic Waste Processors. It ensures compliance through examination, periodic audits, and compositional analysis of mixed municipal waste. The board publishes non-compliance lists, conducts inspections, and may charge fees for processing registrations.

Annual returns submission after each Financial Year. False information leads to expulsion from EPR framework. Mandatory registration with the Board or Committee. Only registered Plastic Waste Processors provide certificates for waste processing. Certificates should not exceed the processor's installed capacity. Submission of details for end-of-life disposal in an environmentally sound manner.
Centralised Portal for Registration:
The Board establishes an online system for registration and filing annual returns. The centralised portal acts as a single-point data repository for EPR implementation. Activities will be conducted offline until the online portal is developed.
Registration Process:
Registration through the centralised EPR portal. Entities placing products in the market have EPR obligations from the next year. No operation without registration, and dealing only with registered entities. Cancellation of registration for providing false information or non-compliance, with a one-year ban on re-registration.
